We have two—count ’em TWO—whole-ass episodes finished! It’s been an absolute blast bringing you all plenty of weekly werewolf shenanigans but as the saying goes, all good things must end.
NO, NOT THE SERIES.
Rather, our weekly schedule. Going forward we’re going to be releasing each episode as a whole, rather than splitting it into four as we’ve been doing. This will give you all a completed story to read at your leisure and will save us running around posting updates every week.
Now, this obviously means a more sedate posting schedule. We’re going to aim to have an episode out per month but that timeframe might slide as we go. To better reflect this (and keep our Patrons happy) we’re going to be switching our Patreon over to “per episode” payments rather than “per month”.
If you’re a patron, this means you’ll be charged when a new episode is released. You can expect that to happen no more than once a month. Essentially, very little will change, you might just be charged a bit more sporadically as we settle into our new rhythm. But again, you’ll be charged no more than once a month.
If you have any questions or concerns about the new schedule don’t hesitate to reach out. We can be found on Twitter here or you can email us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
And hey, thanks.
We very seriously couldn’t do this without y’all. Thanks so much for enjoying our little slice of werewolf life. You’re the bomb.
Hello, Patrons and Perusers!
Now that the first episode is complete (check it out here!) we’re going to be slowing things down a bit. Unfortunately, we both still live in this unrelentingly capitalist society, and have to do things like “work” and “clean” and “remember there’s nothing but mustard in the fridge, oh shit I’ve gotta go to the grocery store,” which means our time for this project is more limited than we were hoping.
In order to give ourselves (plus our sensitivity reader and our editor) enough time to keep the quality where we want it, we won’t be able to update once a week as we’ve done for the first episode. Instead, we’ll be releasing new parts fortnightly from now on.
Hug Your Local Werewolf is still very much a priority! We’ll just be rolling it out a bit slower from here on out. You can expect episode two to hit your eyeballs in the coming weeks. In the meantime, our Patrons can look forward to an exclusive reward to be announced today!
Thanks, as always, for your ongoing support. We couldn’t do this without you!

Do you like werewolves? Found families? Queer shenanigans? Do I have the serial fiction for YOU.
Eli Swann flies so far under the radar, he’s eating dirt. He’s been called a lot of things.
Hey new kid, what’s your name again?
All that changes when he’s attacked by a monster in the woods on Halloween night.
Suddenly werewolves are real and he’s got a raging case of pack instincts. Throw in an unlikely accord with two sisters from a neighboring pack and no idea how he’s going to make it through the next full moon, and Eli’s got more than enough to deal with.
So, of course, the captain of the baseball team might also be trying to kill him. This would sting less if Eli hadn’t had a crush on the guy since arriving in town.
Eli’s simple existence just grew teeth—he might be the only thing holding back a supernatural menace, and he still has to pass Bio.
Life is hard for Rose Lake’s local werewolf.
Hug Your Local Werewolf is a serialized hopepunk urban fantasy story about a newly-bitten werewolf learning to navigate love, the supernatural, and his biology homework—and hopefully survive all three.
It’s co-written by Mel B (author of Far Fetched) and Stacey Lehane (author of The Princess Lottery). Hug Your Local Werewolf is our first combined original undertaking and we’re not taking prisoners.
Y’all, I’m STOKED to be finally announcing this project. Mel and I have been slaving over it for months now and this announcement is the first step to getting eyeballs on our writing proper. You can look forward to the first part of episode one hitting your faces within the month.
In the meantime:
How can you help support the queer werewolves?
We’re on Patreon. For as little as a dollar a month you can get first access to episodes, insight into our processes, Q&As, and other cool rewards.
Your pledge will not only go toward ensuring the success of this endeavour, it’ll also help us pay for fun things like rent and food. We’re teeny tiny independent artists and it’ll mean the world to us to have your support.
Not in a position to pledge but still want in on the action?
We have a mailing list you can join to get updates and news direct to your inbox. We’re also on twitter over here. Follows and signal boosts will go a long way to helping us get this project off the ground.
So how about it – ready to hug your local werewolf?
